David is a global media development leader. Based in Berlin he is founded and leads the Thomson Foundation’s sister organisation Thomson Media gGmbH and as managing director of development at the Thomson Foundation he is in overall charge of sourcing and managing all donor-funded projects worldwide. He won and lead the foundation’s largest ever project – the European Neighbourhood OPEN Media Hub.

David has over 14 years experience of creating and managing large scale media development projects worldwide. He manages teams of consultants and regional staff and has trained hundreds of reporters in over 40 countries for a range of donors including the UNDP, UNESCO, OSCE, EU, FCO and Sida . He developed, and was in charge of delivering, the 17 country production training programme under the European Neighbourhood Journalism Network project from 2007 – 2011 for the European Commission.

As a reporter David has lived in Buenos Aires, Baku, Skopje, Dubai and Beirut. He’s covered issues ranging from the Argentine IMF default in 2001 and Caspian oil geopolitics to Balkan trans-national crime and the 2006 Israeli-Lebanese war for international print and broadcast media including the IWPR, CBC, RTE and the BBC. In 2007 he co–authored the Thomson Foundation / EJC guide to Covering EU for Mediterranean Journalists.

He holds an undergraduate degree in History from Sussex University, UK and Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism from the London College of Communications. He has guest lectured in Journalism at the Universities of Nottingham (UK), Tetovo (FYROM) Lebanese University (Lebanon) and Al Najah (Palestine).
