Save the Date: M100 Sanssouci Colloquium 2021

The preparations for this year‘s M100 Sanssouci Colloquium and the M100 Young Professionals Seminar (YEJ) are in full swing!
The M100 Sanssouci Colloquim takes place on 6th October, 10 days after the Federal elections in the Schlosstheater of the Neues Palais in Park Sanssouci in Potsdam. The Schlosstheater is one of the most beautiful baroque theaters still preserved.

Under the title “From crisis in perpetuity to democratic resilience” the international media conference is composed of three parts:

1. Three parallel “Strategic Roundtables”, held in an interactive virtual format. Here about 100 opinion leaders from Europa and all over the world will discuss questions such as the following: What have we learned from the pandemic? How crisis-proof are our democracies? What makes people in Europe once again so susceptible to anti-democratic, autocratic forms of rule? What is the current relationship between politics, science, and the media? How can we strengthen social resilience in times of ‘perpetual crises’?
2. Afterwards, the conference will switch to a hybrid format. On the stage of the theatre, central results of the strategic roundtables will be brought together and strategic implications and recommendations for action will be discussed.
3. The conference concludes with a special talk with two distinguished guests on the rise of authoritarianism in global politics.

The conference is followed by the festive M100 Media Award Ceremony. Launched in 2005, the M100 Media Award has been annually awarded during the international media conference M100 Sanssouci Colloquium to individuals who have left their mark on the world, and who are committed to strengthening democracy, European understanding, the freedom of expression and press freedom.
