Based in Skopje, David Ilieski has been working as an investigative journalist at the Investigative Reporting Lab – IRL since 2018, a media organization for investigative journalism. As part of IRL he has co-authored numerous stories exposing corruption, financial crime, illegal construction business and political abuse of power.

David is the co-producer of IRL’s documentary series “Redakcija” (Newsroom) and the podcast “Razgovor vo Redakcija” (Discussion in the Newsroom), produced in collaboration with the public broadcasting channel, Macedonian Radio Television – MRT1, as part of IRL’s aims to rebuild trust in media through innovative storytelling. In 2020, David joined the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project – OCCRP, as an ID researcher working on tracking-down persons, companies, and assets anywhere in the world for the purposes of investigative journalism network where IRL is a member center.

Through the research team he has supported numerous investigations such as SuisseSecrets, The Tobacco Project, OpenLux, etc. David started his journalistic career in 2017 as a co-creator of the youth TV show “KRIK”, a project developed within the “BBC Media Action” program, from where he moved to IRL as a journalist-intern.

The M100 Workshop helped me to find out what else I can do for my country when it comes to the Journalism. The M100 workshop in Potsdam was a great professional experience.
