28 May 2022. “Mental health is likely to become one of the biggest issues of our lifetime,” writes Slovenian journalist Dávid Tvrdoň in an article for “The Fix Media”: “I did not expect mental health will become such a big topic. And the war in Ukraine is making it worse”.
David, who attended M100 Young European Journalists Workshop (M100YEJ) in Potsdam in 2014, had several conversations with fellow journalists from all over Europe at the International Journalism Festival in Perugia “and surprisingly, the topic of mental health came up again and again,” he says. “Some newsrooms proactively offered mental health screenings for their staff, but this is far from the case everywhere.”
The issue was big even before the war in Ukraine, including at our digital M100YEJ last year (see here). That’s why we’ll be dealing with this aspect at the upcoming M100 YEJ in September as well.
