Ursula Hyzy heads AFP’s Planet hub, a tight-knit team of around 20 text and image reporters covering the climate, the environment, energy, agriculture, industry, transport and social issues.

Most recently she was AFP’s Tokyo bureau chief for five years, her second assignment in Japan. She was also based in Washington DC, in Moscow, covering general news in Russia and the former USSR, and she headed AFP’s Warsaw regional bureau, comprising six countries.

She covered French macroeconomics in Paris. Ursula studied economics at university in Paris as well as Russian at the Institute of Oriental Languages (Inalco).
