Karin Wenger is a freelance journalist and board member of Junge Journalistinnen und Journalisten Schweiz JJS, a network for media professionals up to 30 years of age.
In 2021, the network launched a campaign on the topic of “Mental Health in Journalism” and produced a seven-part series with young journalists who talk about how their profession affects their mental health, among other things.
Karin grew up without television in sheltered Thun/Switzerland. After an internship at the Thuner Tagblatt, she studied journalism in Winterthur and Stuttgart. She worked at SRF 10vor10, in the foreign department of the NZZ, at the newspaper “Blick” and now writes as a freelance journalist.
She often travels to the Middle East and has deepened her knowledge of the region in her Master’s degree in World Society & World Politics with a focus on Arab countries and Islam.
She loves to write about people: “I am interested in stories that give insight into political, social or religious contexts. Stories that tell more than the daily news.”
