Sayyara Mammadova is a journalist specializing in online disinformation, fact-checking and open-source intelligence (OSINT). She is a research associate at the Digital Forensic Research Lab (DFRLab) at the Atlantic Council.
In her role at DFRLab, she investigates online disinformation campaigns, the influence operations and the online harassment of journalists. She trains others in digital investigative techniques, including open-source and Telegram investigations. Sayyara also serves as external assessor for the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) at Poynter, evaluating the applications of fact-checking organizations. She enjoys contributing to the community, and recently led the creation of an open-source software called TG Collector (TGC), which helps researchers facilitate Telegram based investigations.
Prior to DFRLab, Sayyara worked for Türkiye-based fact-checking organization, Teyit, where she was responsible for the Azerbaijani fact-checking service.
Sayyara participated in the M100 Young European Journalists Workshop in 2022.
