Christoph Lanz is a Journalist, Media Specialist, and Strategic Advisor in media-development for both national and international clients. He serves as Trustee for the Thomson Foundation, UK and is Head of Board of Thomson Media, Germany.

He has spent his professional life in journalism, starting in the early eighties as a reporter and editor for ARD, Germany’s first nationwide public service broadcasting cooperation. He has worked for various television and radio stations including SWF and NDR and was from 1984 to 1985 freelancing correspondent in New York for various ARD-Stations and RTL, Luxemburg. In the late eighties, he was deputy program director of RIAS 2, a radio program of RIAS Berlin.

At the beginning of the nineties, Christoph Lanz worked as editor-in-chief at Deutsche Welle (DW) where he was responsible for the launch of DW-TV, Germany’s international television service. Being appointed as DW’S Director of Television in 2002, he was in charge of Germany’s international television channels in German, English, Spanish, and Arabic as well as the multimedia activities of Deutsche Welle in those languages until 2014.

Christoph is an Honorary Fellow of the University of Melbourne and Member of the M100 Advisory Board, Germany. He is Deputy Chairman of the Association “Förderverein Gedenkstätte Berliner Mauer” that supports the Berlin Wall Foundation.
