Liz Corbin

Director of News
European Broadcasting Union
Switzerland

Liz Corbin is EBU Director of News. She joined as Deputy Media Director/Head of News in January 2020 and was promoted in April 2024, reporting to the EBU Director General. She oversees the Eurovision News Exchange, the Eurovision News Events broadcast services team, Radio and Sport News, and digital transformation projects. She is also a committed advocate for public service media and trusted, quality journalism.

Liz’s relatively short time at the EBU has coincided with what could be considered one of the most challenging periods for global news outlets in recent history. She has presided over a record-breaking Eurovision News Exchange, covering stories including the global pandemic; the war in Ukraine; the death of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II; and the terrible events in Israel and Gaza.

Liz has fostered a news environment rooted in technological innovation with the launch of A European Perspective (a pan-European networked newsroom); the EBU Investigative Journalism Network, which has produced significant stories such as the Missing Children of Ukraine and Russification in Occupied Ukraine; the transformation of the News Events service, which delivers the biggest stories to global media outlets; and genuinely ground-breaking news reports on climate journalism and trusted news in the age of generative AI.

Her current priorities include launching a new platform for all Eurovision News services, further innovations in AI and digital content sharing, developing the globally recognised content verification services; and covering the upcoming US elections.
Before joining the EBU, Liz spent 18 years at the BBC, most recently as Head of News at BBC World News. She also served as Editor of BBC Reality Check, where she led a major team expansion, and as the BBC Singapore Bureau Editor, where she created an integrated newsroom.
