Catherine Nicholson is European Affairs Editor at France 24, covering politics and current affairs across the EU28 and beyond.
In 2019 Catherine made France 24 history with the channel’s longest-ever solo live presenting stint: almost four hours of live TV on EU election night, May 26th. An experienced reporter and presenter, she has interviewed Presidents and Prime Ministers, activists, scientists, musicians, models and Hollywood stars.
Her current job has taken her to diverse destinations, from the CDU headquarters on German election night 2017 to a pesticide-contaminated fruit plantation in Martinique; from late-night EU summits, to wildfire-ravaged Portuguese forests. A dual French-British national, Catherine has covered international news from Paris since 2009.
Her previous roles at France 24 have included anchoring the flagship breakfast show “Live From Paris”; presenting France 24’s arts and culture shows, including from the Cannes Film Festival; as well as reporting for the channel on events as diverse as austerity protests in Greece, royal weddings and births in the UK, and terrorist attacks in France.
Catherine holds a BA in French and German Studies from Warwick University. While studying, she discovered a passion for broadcasting, taking up student radio and going on to win the SRA National Student Radio award for Best Female Presenter in 2000.
