Ana Kakalashvili is Human Rights Lawyer from Georgia.
She has extensive experience as a legal expert with OSCE/ODIHR, specializing in strengthening inclusive and accountable democratic institutions and the rule of law in the OSCE region, particularly in Eastern Europe and post-Soviet countries. Mrs. Kakalashvili also serves as a correspondent for Georgia at the European Correspondent.
She has been instrumental in several OSCE/ODIHR missions in Georgia, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Moldova, with a primary focus on elections and judicial independence. Notably, Mrs. Kakalashvili led a flagship project monitoring the appointments of judges to Georgia’s Supreme Court between 2019 and 2021, a key element in Georgia’s EU accession negotiations due to critical concerns about judicial independence.
Most recently, she has been monitoring high-profile criminal trials in Kazakhstan related to the January 2022 demonstrations, involving activists, journalists, public officials, including cases of torture and severe human rights violations.
