Participants M100YEJ

30 July 2024. More than 50 journalists aged between 20 and 30 from 22 European countries applied for this year’s 20th M100 Young European Journalists Workshop, from Armenia to Malta, from Sweden to Ukraine.
20 from 18 countries have been selected to attend the workshop from 7 to 12 September on the topic “LIVE JOURNALISM: Fake News and Disinformation in Election Campaigns“.
In the first part, experts Dr Katja Muñoz (DGAP) and Caroline Lindekamp (Correctiv) will teach participants how authoritarian governments around the world are increasingly trying to manipulate the information ecosystem to undermine democratic institutions, promote their own interests and strengthen autocratic allies, and will provide them with practical strategies to identify and counter misinformation.
In the second part, Jochen Markett and Christine Liehr from the Potsdam-based agency Headliner will give an introduction to the practice of live journalism and work with the young journalists on a short live programme. On the evening of 11 September, some of the participants will hold a public reporter slam in Potsdam on the topic of “Disinformation in election campaigns”. On 12 September, the group will take part in the M100 Sanssouci Colloquium, where the best performance will be presented again. For an overview of participants click here.
