Olaf Scholz and Věra Jourová at the M100 Media Award: “The end of the world as we know it?” – Europe’s media order after COVID-19

Potsdam, 11 September 2020. On the evening of 17 September, Vice-Chancellor and Finance Minister Olaf Scholz will give the political keynote speech for the presentation of the M100 Media Award, which closes the M100 Sanssouci Colloquium in Potsdam. EU Commission Vice President Věra Jourová will open the awards ceremony. Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Dunja Mijatovic will present the award. The entire event will be broadcast live on the internet.

“A beacon of press freedom”: Szabolcs Dull receives M100 Media Award 2020

Potsdam, 7 September 2020. The international M100 Sanssouci Colloquium media conference is honoring Szabolcs Dull with the M100 Media Award for his advocacy of press freedom and independent journalism. Dull is the former editor-in-chief of index.hu, the largest Hungarian news portal. Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Dunja Mijatovic will present the award to the journalist, who was fired in July.

Advancing media freedoms despite COVID-19: M100 to be held as a digital conference/M100 Media Award in the Raffael Hall

Potsdam, 1 September 2020. On September 17,  a host of chief editors, policymakers and academic experts will convene under the header of “NEUSTART: Shaping the Post-Covid Media Order” to discuss the impact of the coronavirus crisis on journalism, media freedoms and democracy in Europe at the international media conference M100 Sanssouci Colloquium. This year’s hybrid conference will take stock of the role journalism has played and its performance throughout the pandemic. Above all, however, it will explore the question of what tools of public debate will impact the societies of tomorrow – and what we can do today to shape them.
