Gülseren Ölcüm

 

 

Gülseren Ölcüm, born 1985 in Berlin. Has been a permanent team member of the Y-Kollektiv since 2016. She studied history and culture of the Near East in Berlin and London. And also media studies in Aarhus and Sydney. Afterwards she worked as an editor at migazin.de and won the Grimme Online Award together with the whole team. During her studies in Sydney she was awarded the Ossie Award “Best story by an international student” and the Journalist Award of the US Consulate in Sydney for her reporting on the conditions in Australian refugee camps. Immediately afterwards she went to the Bayerischer Rundfunk as a volunteer. Since then reporter for radio, television and web. Since 2016 reporter and editor for Y-Kollectiv. For her report “Sugarbabes – Escort und Rinsing als Studenten-Job” she was awarded the Juliane-Bartel-Medienpreis. Gülseren Ölcüm is also a Fellow of the Mercator Foundation. And did one of six 45-minute reports on German-Turks in Germany for the RABIAT series for the first time.
