Maria Scholl is Editor-in-Chief of the Austrian Press Agency (APA), where she started her career in 2010 as a journalist for culture and science. She has been leading a wide range of projects to promote the digital and AI transformation of both the newsroom and the agencies‘ additional business models in communi-cation services and technology.
Maria holds a doctorate in comparative literature and cognitive psychology and has taught and researched in literary and aesthetic perception. As a trained consultant for systemic organizational development she founded APAs consul-tancy operations at the nexus of quality journalism, data-driven audience de-velopment and change management. In the newsroom she previously served as editor, correspondent, managing editor and deputy editor-in-chief. Academic and journalistic fellowships led her to work in London, Lisbon and Washington.
