Fiete Stegers is a journalist with a focus on tech and (social) media issues, especially verification. He is currently a research associate at Hamburg University of Applied Sciences’s (HAW Hamburg) department of information, working on a project to improve teen media and internet literary and sponsored by German president Frank-Walter Steinmeier. Previously, he was as tech editor and social media expert for public broadcaster NDR and its online, TV and radio programs. In 2017, he was part of ARD’s fact-checking team, building on his prior experience as a longtime online news editor with Tagesschau, where he had also helped setting up the first united dedicated to fact-checking user generated content. He’s one on the regular contributors to a fun quiz on Twitter, helping journalists to collaboratively sharpen their verification skills.
